What to expect when you visit a food bank

Food banks and meal programs are run by caring staff and volunteers. They are often located in churches or community centres.

What to bring

When you visit a food bank for the first time, you will need to bring your health card, plus the health cards of anyone else in your home you are getting food for. You may also need proof of your current address.

What you will get

Each food bank is a little different, but most provide 3-4 days worth of food once or twice per month based on the number of people in your household.
