Feed Nova Scotia is a charitable organization that helps feed hungry people by collecting and distributing food to 146 member agency food banks and meal programs. What is a Food Distributor?

As a Food Distributor, you are an ambassador for the organization, maintaining positive relationships with food donors and our members. Each day the trucks are loaded at our distribution warehouse and Food Distributors deliver these pre-picked orders to food banks, and back haul food from donors to one of our warehouses. Deliveries and donor pickups are made throughout Nova Scotia via different routes each day.

What does a Food Distributor do?

  • Ensures timely deliveries while providing excellent customer service
  • Maintains accurate driving logs
  • Collects food from donors and redistributes
  • Maintains positive relationships with food donors and member agencies
  • Consistently performs heavy lifting, and meets timelines in a fast paced and physically demanding environment
  • Loads and unloads food by pallet and/or by box

What are we looking for?

  • Must have valid Class 3 driver's license in good standing; Class 1 or 2 considered an asset
  • Air brakes certified
  • 5 years driving experience; experience driving large vehicles preferred (3-5 ton vehicles)
  • Current acceptable drivers abstract
  • Must be able to consistently lift up to 25 kilograms unassisted
  • Safety conscious people person who enjoys working in a fast-paced team-oriented environment
  • Forklift operator’s license considered an asset

  • Local and provincial daily deliveries and pickups, Monday to Friday
  • Start at 7:30 AM and finish each day at 5:00 PM, right in Halifax on the Bedford Highway
