What current protocols do you have in place during COVID for volunteering?

We have put many things in place to make the warehouse as safe as possible for everyone. We provide KN95 and 3-layer medical grade masks to volunteers, and we've implemented increased cleaning and sanitizing schedules. We have capacity limits in shared spaces, and provide regular updates to our teams about provincial guidelines and protocol. If you have any COVID-specific questions, please email volunteer@feednovascotia.ca and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Can I bring in a group to volunteer?

Absolutely! We often welcome groups into the warehouse; it’s a great team building activity. Shifts are available Monday through Friday, 9am-12pm or 1pm-4pm with the exception of Monday mornings and Friday afternoons when we are doing inventory. We can currently accommodate groups of up to 10 people. We typically recommend planning a month or two in advance to make sure we can fit you and your group into the schedule.

I can't commit to a weekly schedule. Am I still able to volunteer?

We do our best to keep our schedules flexible, so we can work to find the right role for you! If you’re interested in working in the warehouse, we do a regularly-scheduled number of volunteers, who float between various roles, wherever the most need is. Email us at volunteer@feednovascotia.ca and we’d be happy to chat with you about your options!

How old do I have to be to volunteer?

To volunteer in our warehouse, you must be 18 years or older to do so on your own. If you are between the ages of 16 and 17, you can volunteer on your own, but we require a signed consent form from a parent or guardian. For special events, we welcome volunteers between the ages of 12 and 15 years old, but they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
