Volunteer Update: May 1, 2020

Scott in the warehouse with potatoes

Another week has passed here at Feed Nova Scotia, and we continue to see great things happening across Nova Scotia – and across Canada!

This past Sunday, April 26, viewers tuned in to an all-Canadian, multi-platform broadcast in support of Food Banks Canada. What is now the most-watched (non-sports) Canadian broadcast on record, STRONGER TOGETHER, TOUS ENSEMBLE raised more than $6,000,000 for food support programs across the country. Nearly 1 in 3 Canadians caught a part of the historic broadcast; with audiences peaking at more than 6.1 million viewers.

This week, we also received a very exciting bulk donation of PEI potatoes! Thanks to Mid Isle Farms, we’ll be putting potatoes on orders for at least three weeks!  What an awesome, nutrient-rich staple for households to have. A huge thanks to Mid Isle Farms!

During these challenging times, we recognize the importance of finding opportunities to smile. We want to share a video with you - the Hanson family has been volunteering with us for over three years, and have built a tradition of supporting our organization through multiple initiatives and fundraisers. Most recently, sisters Abigail and Ella posted a beautiful video, featuring their musical talents in “Prayerful Hymn”. We encourage you to give a listen! https://www.facebook.com/novascotiayouthorchestra/videos/839816586503109/

We hope you and your family are well; we will be back again next week with some updates to share, as there are many hopeful things on the horizon for Feed Nova Scotia. We miss you, and can’t wait to see you again soon.
