Halifax Pride Parade 2025

Location: Downtown Halifax
Route: Starts at the Cogswell St roundabout, heads east on Cogswell, then south, ending at the Garrison Grounds, Citadel Hill
Date: Saturday, July 19, 2025
Event Time: 12:00 PM, runs until 2:30 PM
Volunteer Shift: Arrive between 11:00AM-11:30AM
This opportunity is open to anyone interested in participating that is 14 years or older.
Event Description: Experience the power of community gathering, celebration, and activism as a part of the 2025 Halifax Pride Parade. Enter your group to take part in one of this city’s largest community events, demonstrate your support for 2SLGBTQIA+ equity, and help make the Halifax Pride Festival possible.
Volunteer Roles: As a Parade Walker, you’ll represent Feed Nova Scotia (or insert organization name) by walking alongside our group in the parade. This is a fun and high-energy role focused on spreading positivity, engaging with the crowd, and showing support for our mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Walk the designated parade route with the group.
- Smile, wave, and engage with spectators to create a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere.
- Help carry signs, banners, or flags
- Wear a Feed Nova Scotia t-shirt (will be provided)
- Follow any safety instructions provided by parade marshals or event organizers.
Physical requirements:
- Must have the ability walk and stand up for to 2–3 hours along the 2.5 km parade route.
- Comfortable walking at a slow to moderate pace, sometimes stopping or pausing.
- Use of mobility aids (such as wheelchairs or scooters) is welcome, provided participants can keep pace with the group and safely navigate the route.
- Ability to carry lightweight items such as signs, flags, or banners if needed.
Volunteer conditions (i.e. outside, noisy)
- Outdoors for the duration of the event. Rain or Shine
- Exposure to weather elements (heat, sun, potential rain, etc.).
- Noisy environment with loud music, cheering, and large crowds.
- Potential for uneven walking surfaces and congested walking areas.
