Halifax Pride Parade 2025

Location: Downtown Halifax

Route: Starts at the Cogswell St roundabout, heads east on Cogswell, then south, ending at the Garrison Grounds, Citadel Hill

Date: Saturday, July 19, 2025

Event Time: 12:00 PM, runs until 2:30 PM

Volunteer Shift: Arrive between 11:00AM-11:30AM

 

This opportunity is open to anyone interested in participating that is 14 years or older.

 

Event Description: Experience the power of community gathering, celebration, and activism as a part of the 2025 Halifax Pride Parade. Enter your group to take part in one of this city’s largest community events, demonstrate your support for 2SLGBTQIA+ equity, and help make the Halifax Pride Festival possible.

Volunteer Roles: As a Parade Walker, you’ll represent Feed Nova Scotia (or insert organization name) by walking alongside our group in the parade. This is a fun and high-energy role focused on spreading positivity, engaging with the crowd, and showing support for our mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Walk the designated parade route with the group.
  • Smile, wave, and engage with spectators to create a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere.
  • Help carry signs, banners, or flags
  • Wear a Feed Nova Scotia t-shirt (will be provided)
  • Follow any safety instructions provided by parade marshals or event organizers.

Physical requirements:

  • Must have the ability walk and stand up for to 2–3 hours along the 2.5 km parade route.
  • Comfortable walking at a slow to moderate pace, sometimes stopping or pausing.
  • Use of mobility aids (such as wheelchairs or scooters) is welcome, provided participants can keep pace with the group and safely navigate the route.
  • Ability to carry lightweight items such as signs, flags, or banners if needed.

Volunteer conditions (i.e. outside, noisy)

  • Outdoors for the duration of the event. Rain or Shine
  • Exposure to weather elements (heat, sun, potential rain, etc.).
  • Noisy environment with loud music, cheering, and large crowds.
  • Potential for uneven walking surfaces and congested walking areas.

 

Gusto! Italian Festival: The Gusto Cup! Bocce Tournament

Location: Halifax Waterfront (exact location TBA)

Date: Saturday, June 28th - Sunday, June 29th, 2025

Volunteer Shifts:  There will be two shifts per day.

7:45 am-12:45 pm

12:30 pm – 5:00 pm

Event Description:

Gusto! Italian Festival: Bringing the vibrant spirit of Italian culture, cuisine, and traditions to the heart of Halifax Waterfront.

The Gusto Cup! Bocce Tournament for Charity: Teams from across the community will come together to compete in a fun, fast-paced tournament for the ultimate prize: the inaugural Gusto! Cup. With bragging rights on the line, each team will battle it out in a series of exciting bocce matches, showcasing skill, teamwork, and a love for friendly competition—all in support of Feed Nova Scotia.

Bocce is a traditional Italian ball sport that combines elements of bowling and pétanque. It is typically played on a flat, smooth surface such as a court made of sand, grass, or synthetic material.

Volunteer Role: Volunteers will manage the bocce tournament by initiating each game, keeping time as needed, and recording team scores throughout the event.

**Please Note** Please note that this is an outdoor event, so be prepared for unpredictable weather. The role may involve physical activity, including standing for the duration of your shift, moving throughout the bocce court, and assisting with game setup.
